Monday afternoon we saw how one of the versions of iOS 7 most anticipated: 7.1. This update includes numerous changes in many aspects of the entire operating system, both aesthetic and functional. One of the ones that is causing the most controversy so far, is located in the keyboard section.
This change has been noted since it is not especially obvious in which of the states the keyboard mode has been activated (lower case, upper case and keyboard locked), at least until you know how it works. If you have iOS 7.1 and you are having problems of this type, here is a quick solution on how to guide yourself in this recently incorporated little aspect.
In this way, we can see three aspects represented on the iOS 7.1 keyboard to indicate each of the three states mentioned above.
- If we observe that the bottom of the key is Gray and the key is in white, the mode that we have activated is the writing of everything in lowercase.
- On the contrary, if the one in light color (white) is the background and the key adopts a Color black, it will indicate that we have activated the option to write a single capital letter.
- Finally, here we see the biggest visual change, and that is that a horizontal line under the main arrow to indicate that Caps Lock is on.
This, along with other changes applied to the keyboard, are intended to make this something much more useful and better for user experience. Although it is true that these sudden gestures can make us different and somewhat complicated to differentiate at first, it will not take long to get used to it through the daily use of it.
And you couldn't change color? to a dark one? I have read it but I do not see the option anywhere.
It was hard for me to realize how the all caps function was activated, nobody comments on it. It's as simple as tapping the arrow twice in a row. I think we have all pressed our fingers or did strange things. For the clueless like me we need, since they comment on the different changes, that they explain us how to do it!
That feature has been around since iOS 1.
And I wonder…. So difficult and complicated is to add to iOS the function that makes a free Cydia tweak called Showcase ??? This function is so simple and visual that I do not understand how Apple has not implemented it taking advantage of this change, which in my opinion is absurd, since all it does to older users is to confuse them and to give new ones completely the same. What Showcase does is change all the letters on the keyboard to uppercase or lowercase depending on the mode we are in. Easy, visual, and perfect for everyone.
Fully agree with aarancon. Improving the user experience would be that the letters appear as they are actually being written. For my showcase it is one of the essentials of Cydia, and it was one of the reasons why I did not go from iOS 6 to iOS7 until there was Jailbreak. What is Apple waiting to put it?

What they have to do is stop being colored and improve the functions. Example: SwipeSelection from cydia.
Strongly agree Showcase is just one of many features that we do Jailbrake to get some of the essence of the old Apple on our devices
