Tutorial: How to insert videos in VLC application

1

Here we bring you a new guide in which we will explain how to put files in the player VLC FOR IOS.

In case you don't remember, VLC was already published some time ago. But it was withdrawn due to violation of one of the rules of the GNU / GPL license. And since then rumors of its possible return to the App Store have not stopped spreading.

Well, that day has arrived and we have this magnificent player among us again, it is a universal application (compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) and Delivery to Italy takes one or two business days. It brings us the following news:

  • Content download via Wi-Fi.
  • Synchronization of contents with dropbox.
  • Download offline from the web.
  • Support from all formats allowed in the desktop application.
  • Streaming from our iOS devices through AirPlay.
  • Application of filters like brightness, contrast or saturation —among others— in videos.
  • Background execution of audio tracks.

Well, we start with the operating guide of this magnificent player to be able to put files in the VLC FOR IOS player.

When we open the App we will get a message informing us that there are no files in the player and that we use iTunes to synchronize the video or music files.

If we access the player options we see that we have several methods for insert files into VLC application.

  • We can open the files from a network location.
  • Download from a HTTP server.
  • Activate a HTTP server to connect from the pc and put videos.
  • Associate our account dropbox to download the files from it.

Personally, the option that I use to put the video or music files in this new player is through iTunes, dropbox or through HTTP upload.

  • iTunes

We access iTunes, we go to the applications section within the sync menu, we lower the screen down and we will see the VLC option.

tut3

We give to Add and we will get one screen to select the video, then we add and we will already have the video in our application.

tut4

  • Through an HTTP server

We activate the Upload HTTP option

tut5

After activating it we go to the web browser from our pc / Mac and We access the IP address that appears after activating the Upload HTTP option In this case it is http://192.168.1.100:8888

After that the following image will appear, we give upload and we will get a screen to search the files, we select the file and we give it to open, when the upload is finished we will have the video on our device.

tut6

  • Upload via DropBox

tut7

To use this method we just have to link our dropbox account with the application, once linked by accessing the dropbox option we will get the folders that we have in our account and in them we can search for the video we want, we give the video and we will get two options, cancel and download, giving it to download we will put the video in our player.

These are the methods to be able to insert files in the VLC application.

Hello colleague and since the ones I use the most since the one to open from a network location I could not verify it since I do not have the computers on the network for privacy reasons.
