TV-Out on the iPhone

We had heard about the possibility of Tv-Out being released for all iPhone applications, and it is finally here. Playing on the television screen is not that far off. Although I really can think of many more possibilities such as presentations directly from the iPhone, YouTube videos, surfing the internet on a 32 ″ screen ...

A video and more information after the jump.

It's a very early beta, but works quite well, except for two or three details. On the one hand, it is noted that programs that use OpenGL are not supported yet (google maps for example). Also, if we try to see the Springboard it will restart. It is also warned that it will give problems if we try to see something that is already working as TV-Out (ipod videos, for example).

You can select which applications we want to be seen on the screen. It offers the possibility of inserting an image in /var/mobile/Library/TVOut/wallpaper.jpg as a background image.

For the future they promise to fix the errors announced and to be able to configure each application how we want it to look. Finally, the landscape mode will be fixed (right now the screen is not rotated, but it is seen vertically).

But what better than a video to see how it works and what needs to be polished.

As always, we will have to go to Cydia to get this plugin. You will find it in the BigBoss repository. Install at your own risk, it is a very premature beta.

but how is it connected to a common TV ??? I have a 40 ″ LCD or a computer or a projector? how is it done? regards

Gonzalo, you have to buy an AV-out cable that costs about € 30-40. It is the one I use in the video, although the truth is that being an Apple original, I was disappointed (it looks like if the connection moves a little, the image is lost). You have the typical 3 yellow-red-white cables that can go directly or to a scart.

Good news!! Let's see if they improve it and soon we can perfectly use the iPhone on a TV.
By the way, go tele you spend !! 😛

ok, the problem with getting the signal from the iphone is not just connecting it and that's it. Some applications have to be modified for this. Erica Sadun found out in the SDK that apple seems to be preparing to release this for 3rd party development. Check: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5rxul-ZSE0In games, for example, you have to check the frame rate because it consumes some CPU of the iPhone to output the signal. If you see the video from a browser, then there will be no problem, but look for the moto chaser (since late November or early December), which with Erica they were looking for a stable frame rate.

I thought that buying the cable was enough, thanks for the information!

Have you seen the news video? Hehehehe, there is another application to have tvout that does let you use the iPhone, but it slows down the device. I don't remember what it's called, but an entry was published here on actualidadiphone. A greeting

I already bought the cable and with neither of my two TVs you can see anything. After a minute of being connected, an ad appears that says that this cable does not work with the iphone! What I do??
