tvOS 13 was presented along with the rest of new operating systems at WWDC 2019. The novelties that this new version brings are mainly the support multi-user, support for controlling the interface with Xbox and Playstation controllers, along with new screensavers and full integration of the Apple TV + subscription service.
La tvOS 2 beta 13 was published a few days ago and one of the most important functions that has been discovered is the addition of the function Picture-in-picture or in Spanish «Imagen-sobre-imagen». This tool will allow you to browse tvOS 13 while keeping the content that is being played.
"Picture-in-picture", what's new in tvOS 13
Navigation in an operating system is key. In the tvOS case it is much more so due to the amount of control that the user has over the interface. This means that the immense amount of usability alternatives makes Apple take into account that the center of that operating system is the audiovisual content, In other words, whatever we do, the audiovisual content has to take precedence over any subsequent navigation.
That is why in the tvOS 2 beta 13 the well-known function has been added Picture-in-Picture. To explain its operation we will present an example. You're watching a movie on your Apple TV when you suddenly want to check if you have updates to your favorite games that you have installed. Currently you would have to exit the visualization to access the other information. However, with this feature included in the tvOS 13 beta, the multimedia content is minimized to the bottom right of the screen and allows other information to be consulted while keeping the main content displayed on a small screen.
This is a function that we already have in iOS 12 in some applications such as Safari. However, other apps have not enabled this function, such as YouTube. It is very likely that we will finally see this feature called Picture-in-Picture in the final version of tvOS 13 but until then we can only see and enjoy the next news that will appear in beta 3.
