Tweetbot vs Twitterrific, the two best Twitter clients face to face

Tweetbot-Twitterrific

The two most famous Twitter clients have just been updated adding new improvements to the ones they already had, and if there seems to be some unanimity that Tweetbot is the best client that can be used on both iPad and iPhone and OS X, Twiterrific has been adding improvements in recent months that have made it a more than interesting client that can be a very good alternative to Tweetbot. We are going to see the main characteristics of each one, their pros and cons, so that those who do not know them or are doubtful can choose the one that suits you best.

Tweetbot

tweetbot-1

Tweetbot has long been in the first place in all the reviews that can be found on the internet, and it deserves it. Its latest update adds a new way of seeing the Timeline, being able to use the classic view or see only those tweets that have an image or video included, quite useful for many, for sure. But this is just a small detail, because the main window offers you many options that you can access immediately, without the need to navigate through menus. Timeline, mentions, direct messages, favorites, search, your account information, lists, retweets of yours and what others have made you and blocked users are at your fingertips, directly from the main screen. In addition, changing user is as fast as clicking on your avatar and choosing the one from another account that you have configured, all very fast but without overloads, while maintaining simplicity.

But also if you click on a tweet you will see the options to reply, retweet, mark as a favorite, share with other networks, delete it (if it is yours) ... and with support for touch gestures- Swipe right to see details of the tweet, left to see the entire conversation.

tweetbot-2

Compose a tweet and choose from which account to use it by simply clicking on the avatar on the right, so you won't have to change accounts simply to write a tweet from a different one. The settings are very complete, with synchronization through iCloud and Tweetmarker, possibility to define time intervals in which you will not be disturbed by notifications, integration with Safari, Chrome and 1Password, support of services such as Pocket, Instapaper, Pinboard and Readability and possibility to vary the size of the text .

On the downside, the main downside of this fantastic program is its price, and that there are also different versions for iPhone, iPad and OS X, so you have to pay three times, and they are not exactly cheap, especially the version for Mac. This makes many think about it before buying it, although I doubt that someone has regretted after their purchase. There are also no more customization options, you cannot change the colors or other aspects, and it is also not translated into Spanish, nor does it have the option to translate tweets, something that other clients already incorporate. As you have told us on Twitter and in the comments, you have the option of translating from English, Chinese, Greek ... which you can configure in the settings in the "Triple Tap" option.

Twitterrific

twitterrific-1

Twitterrific already incorporates push notifications after several updates. It offers us a cleaner interface than Tweetbot, but perhaps too clean. Too much space for little information. Although you can modify the size of the avatar and the text, the only thing you will get is to see a few more tweets, but that's it. A small menu at the top allows us to switch between our Timeline, the mentions, the messages and the favorites. To see our lists we will have to click on our avatar and choose the account. The same to change the account, we will have to press our avatar, the Accounts button and we will be able to select the account.

twitterrific-3

When clicking on a tweet, we will see the options to reply, retweet and mark as a favorite, and if we click on the «...» we will have other options such as viewing the conversation, or translating the tweet, a function that can be very useful. You also have functions activated with touch gesturesSo if you slide to the right you will reply to the tweet, and if you slide to the left you will see the conversation. There is no option to view the details of the tweet. When we write we will have to do it from the account with which we want to send the tweet, because it is not possible to change the account from that window, this can be very uncomfortable for those of us who have several active accounts.

twitterrific-2

Twitterrific incorporates services such as Instapaper, Pocket and Pinboard to mark tweets and has synchronization through iCloud and Tweetmarker. It incorporates customizable push notifications but you cannot set "rest" times, something you can supply with the "Do Not Disturb" option in iOS 6. And in this case we do have more extensive customization options, in addition to a theme for the day and another for the night, darker, which can be activated automatically.

Twitterrific is a universal application, valid for iPhone and iPad, so with a single purchase you can enjoy it on all your devices. It has an application for Mac, for a much lower price than Tweetbot, so for much less money you can have the complete pack.

Conclusions

Two great applications oriented for users with different demands. Do you manage many accounts that you use interchangeably? Do you use lists to organize your tweets? Do you need to have full control of your accounts from your devices? Then Tweetbot is your choice. But if your use of Twitter is low or moderate, perhaps the options offered by Twitterrific and its price are more than enough for you. Which one do you prefer? Let us know which is your favorite twitter client, even if it is neither of these two.

Tweebot, if you have the option to translate tweets, in the ipad and iphone version, if you slide to the right to see the details of the tweet there is an option called "ACTIONS" and in the menu that appears, at the end is TRANSLATE ... . You can also configure it in SETTING in TRIPLE TAP and you give it the option to translate… .so when you see a tweet in another language, you triple-tap it and it translates it for you.

I have already tried it, it is a Google-type translation but it works well for what is not English, that I do not speak Chinese ...

They say that in settings there is a night theme but I can't find it. I don't know how to activate it. That has been answered in the tweetbot profile of his Twitter. Does anyone know how ?!
