Twitter for iOS will show a warning if we use inappropriate language

Twitter

In recent years, Twitter has been widely criticized for failing to take steps to prevent hateful content available on its platform. Jack Dorsey's company policies do not allow users to address other people with insults of any kind or with degrading content but they can do it openly.

In 2017 Twitter began shutting down profiles that posted content that the company said was sensitive. In addition, he also established a series of temporary blocks for tweets from people deemed controversial, only the followers of that account will be shown. But, it seems that it is enough and he wants to go one step further.

Twitter is testing a new feature on iOS that warn users that you have used foul language in the tweet you are about to publish, inviting you to review it, but at no time will it be prohibited to publish it, it only recommends that we review it.

When things heat up, you can say things you don't mean. To allow you to rethink an answer, we are running a limited experiment on iOS with a warning that gives you the option to review your answer before it is published if it uses language that could be harmful.

According to Sunita Saligram, Global Director of Policy for Twitter:

We are trying to encourage people to rethink their behavior and rethink their language before posting, because they are often misled at one point and may say something they regret.

According to Saligram, this new measure, which will be tested over the next two weeks only in English, is targeting violators of Twitter policies that are not repeat offenders. If this temporary measure is successful, it will be implemented in the rest of the world and all languages, although it will be a slow and laborious process.
