Third-party Twitter apps will also display 'correctly' quoted tweets.

One of the most important new features that Twitter has added to its social network arrived six weeks ago and is none other than the new way of quoting tweets. Previously, when quoting what someone else had written, we could only add a few characters to their message, which sometimes required us to even edit the original message. Now, from the official Twitter application, when citing a tweet it is added as a screenshot that only remains 22 characters out of 140 available.

This, which was only available with their official applications, although it is true that I was already able to use the function with the Twitter client Tweetbot, will be available from today in third-party applications. This is going to be possible because Twitter has updated its API to allow other developers to add this important possibility to their applications.

According to Twitter, from now on we will be able to see tweet citations "correctly", which right now makes me doubt whether Tweetbot will start displaying tweet citations in a different way in the coming weeks. Surely, by "correctly" they mean that they have launched the API and that it is official that the aforementioned tweets can be added.

This news, important for users of third-party Twitter clients, also comes with some unknowns. And is that Tweetium for Windows developer claims that Twitter API changes do not allow their application to be supported with the new function, so it is not clear why or when it will happen.

As a curiosity, comment that there are users who say that it is ironic that «the official version of Twitter for iPad does not show correctly the function of quoting tweets«. As always, "at the blacksmith's house ..."

Supposedly 6 weeks yes, but I can't quote from ios in this new way (from the official app and with ios, with everything updated to the latest version). From the twitter website yes, but not from the iphone app. keep coming out in the classic way. I have tried everything, to reinstall the app, etc, but nothing, there is no way. Does somebody knows why it could be?

I have the same problem, I can not quote the tweets in the new way, note that I have everything updated to the latest version, I have tried to reinstall the application but it remains the same, does it happen to someone else? Is there any solution? Well the truth is quite annoying.
