It is increasingly common to find routers that allow us to create mesh networks, a type of router that offers us much wider coverage than traditional models and that also allow us to extend their range through repeaters without interference, speed losses in a very simple way, as long as we are willing to pay what they are worth.
At the end of November, the American company Ubiquiti presented the AmpliFi ALIEN (successor to the AmpliFi HD that we analyzed in Actualidad iPhone), a mesh router with Wi-Fi 6 compatible but it was only sold individually, so if we did not have enough with one to cover our entire home with Wi-Fi we were forced to buy two units.
For a few days, it is already possible to buy a pack that includes the main router and repeater, which allows us to save 60 dollars than if we bought two routers instead of this pack. This repeater differs from the router in that it does not incorporate a touch screen, although it should not be a problem to configure it, since we can do it directly from the application for iOS.
The set of the router and repeater is $ 699. If, on the other hand, we choose to buy two routers, the price we have to pay is 758 euros. Here everything depends on the tastes and preferences of each one.
The AmpliFi ALIEN compatible with Wi-Fi 6, also incorporates a chip dedicated to Wi-Fi 5 networks, so it offers us the same performance on both networks independently and without one connection being affected by the other.
