Wells Fargo contradicts Ming-Chi Kuo: iPhone 7 will help boost sales

IPhone 7 concept

By all accounts, 2016 will be the first year that the iPhone will see its sales decline since the introduction of the first generation in 2007. Apple's most prestigious analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo even predicts a worse 2016 than 2014, the year in which the apple phone grew from the 4 inches of the iPhone 5s to the 4,7 and 5.5 inches of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus respectively. But there is an analyst of Wells Fargo that you do not entirely agree.

The analyst is called Maynard Um and he has provided a report to his investors in which he says that the iPhone 7 will cause the sales of the iPhone to increase in the last quarter of 2016. To be more exact, Um says that Apple will sell 82.2 million units in the Christmas holiday season. Although it is logical that we buy more in the Christmas season, more than 80 million units in a quarter is much more than everyone expects on Wall Street.

According to Wells Fargo, the iPhone 7 will sell well

The Wells Fargo analyst believes that Wall Street is very pessimistic in their predictions about the iPhone 7. Wall Street expects 50 million iPhones to be sold in the first quarter of March, which is 50% less than what Um expected for the last quarter. On the other hand, Ming-Chi Kuo says that the iPhone 7 will not include anything flashy which, coupled with the little design change, will make users think twice when renewing their device.

Today the balance of the first fiscal quarter from Apple. It will be interesting to see if the decline in sales that Wall Street expects has already begun or if the iPhone SE has served to delay a bit the low sales that everyone expects. In addition, it also remains to be seen if they offer Apple Watch sales data or continue to put the smartwatch in the "Others" section and the same of a fourth generation Apple TV that went on sale in October 2015. We will soon be out of any doubt.
