What the new Bluetooth 4.1 will bring us

iOS-7-Bluetooth

Bluetooth has become one of the essential elements in our devices. From being almost relegated to the use of a hands-free device in the car, or to the transfer of files (something very limited on iOS devices), it has become something almost essential for those of us who want to get the most out of our smartphones: watches smart devices, “health” devices, wireless speakers and headphones… And this obviously causes the batteries of our devices to suffer. The new Bluetooth 4.1 seems to come to solve part of this problem, with lower consumption and better performance than the current version, 4.0.

The new Bluetooth 4.1 will enhance your coordination with the telephone modem. This will not only allow our devices connected to a smartphone to also be connected to the internet, but it will also improve battery consumption, since the modem will not have to amplify its signal to avoid interference with Bluetooth.

Another major improvement will occur with connections. Surely anyone who uses an accessory that connects to their device via Bluetooth will have suffered a loss of connection when moving away from it, and when they approach it again, they have not reconnected. The new Bluetooth 4.1 will put an end to that, since once the connection is lost, it will periodically search again to recover it as soon as it is available again.

There will also be improvements with the data transfer, allowing complete "packets" to be transferred instead of individual data, thus achieving better performance.

Although we do not yet have a date from which this new Bluetooth 4.1 reaches our devices, it is expected that it will not take long for it. In addition, the update will be at the software level, so an update will allow you to enjoy these improvements on your devices as soon as they are available.
