WhatsApp, the same story of all the new Apple launches

iPhone 6

It was 2012 when Apple launched the iPhone 5, a terminal that maintained the style of its predecessors but was vertically elongated to accommodate an expanded resolution. This meant that all developers had to adapt their apps to the new screen, in order to avoid the horrible black bands that were standard with unadapted apps.

At their own pace

The updates were happening in an incredible way, the response of the developers it was fantastic and the vast majority of popular apps were updated in just a few days, but there was one notable exception: WhatsApp. The application - which was not owned by Facebook at the time - took several months to update, and therefore it was giving a sad image to all the owners of an iPhone 5.

With the sale of WhatsApp to Facebook (for that astronomical figure of more than 10.000 millones de euros in cash and shares) it could be thought that Mark Zuckerberg would put some sanity in this situation and expand the WhatsApp team as necessary so that the situation does not repeat itself, but it seems that it has not been the case according to what we are living today.

Is repeated

If it seemed complex that a situation as embarrassing as that of the iPhone 5 was repeated, the truth is that it is happening. WhatsApp still does not have support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which leads to the fact that in the latest Apple terminals we obtain graphics of lower quality than that of the apps that have adapted either their layout (iPhone 6) or their graphics to the new resolution (iPhone 6 Plus).

I want to think that it will not be long until we see a version of WhatsApp looking like it should on the new iPhones, but at the moment it is not. While others such as Telegram, Facebook itself, Tweetbot or Instagram - also owned by Facebook - have already adapted to the new terminals for weeks.

It goes without saying that the app is perfectly usable with the adapted resolution (as it is now), but of course I don't think it is the user experience that WhatsApp should give to the tens of millions of users who already have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus in your hands. The problem is that they are so high and their monopoly in their market is so great that this type of behavior does not affect them practically at all. Hopefully we can tell sooner rather than later that support is already here, but you no longer know what to think.

In addition to resolution issues, you could also get to work with the new features of iOS 8 such as interactive notifications, extensions, etc.

The worst of all is that they have been with the adapted beta for at least 3 weeks ... What I do not understand is why they have not yet uploaded it to the AppStore:

These are two screenshots of the app on an iPhone 6, and as you will see it is fully adapted ... And I repeat, I have been with the adapted version for 3 weeks ... Also, recently they have released another update that includes the "call »At the top, next to the photo.

Hopefully they will publish the version soon in the Appstore.

WhatsApp is a SHAME, in short, it was to stop using it all, hopefully we would all use telegram (PC version, support, updates ...) and forget that WhatsApp gives you interactive notifications ... luck if you put the share button on the reel (but I don't expect it ...)

I downloaded it directly from the safari on the page http://www.pgyer.com/WhatsAppBeta
WhatsApp must be open in the background. The only thing is that it does not copy in iCloud. I did it on iPhone 6 with 8.1
