Why I do not advise you to buy the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 folding stabilizer

If I talk about drones to many, the DJI brand will come to mind, very famous in the field of aerial recording devices and stabilizers. In fact, recently the DGT (Spain) presented its new road surveillance drones with which they will impose fines, pure marketing ... And yes, those drones from which manufacturer were they ?: DJI.

A brand that is a product launch machine. And yesterday we got the latest: the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3, the new stabilizer for mobile devices like the iPhone. A new stabilizer that we want to talk to you about after the jump to give you all the details about why DO NOT buy…

The truth is that DJI wants to keep selling, and you want to do it by renewing products in quotes, and it is that this new DJI Osmo Mobile 3 offers the same as its previous versions, yes, is folded. A folding that can be very interesting when it comes to transporting it, but that contributes little when deciding to buy it and replace it with its previous version. It offers the same (I assure you): tracking of people; same controls with buttons to fix a plane, switch between landscape and portrait modes; zoom control, panorama creation, and a new gesture control that the gimbal doesn't even do, does the control app. Of course, it folds ...

Personally I have to say that these stabilizers, technically gimbals, they are not effective at all with mobile devices such as the iPhone, or at least with its more modern versions ... And it is that along with the launch of the iPhone 7 came the eoptical stabilization to iPhones, a great improvement for the cameras that brought a problem: it conflicts with the stabilization of the gimbals with the DJI Osmo Mobile 3. Yes you have to be very rogue to realize it, but if you look at the videos (those that you record and not promotional ones) a slight tremor is noticeable at the edges (known as Jittery) that is the result of the fight between the stabilization of the iPhone and that of the DJI Osmo Mobile. Something that cannot be disabled, only Apple could do it ... So, in my humble opinion, I do not recommend buying these stabilizers for iPhone, buying one for another type of camera ...

I have the dj osmo mobile 2 and next to the Xs when I record there is nothing of Jittery anywhere ...

You should read a little more in the forums, I recommend Reddit to see where your error in the argumentation is.

For the next best, read first and do not base a no recommendation on something you do not know how to use.

    You're welcome

    Good morning reader,

I'm very glad that you didn't have any problems with the Osmo Mobile 2 and your brand new iPhone XS, you have spent the money excellently then 😉
However, my opinion (and recommendation) is unfortunately not based only on reading blogs, forums, or reddit ... It is based on my experience, in fact, I have had the Osmo Mobile 2 and the first version (in addition to cheaper ones from Chinese manufacturers), and yes, I also work in the audiovisual industry so I must have some idea ...
The jittering problem is something normal and obvious, the result of physics ... If Apple released a stabilizer to the market, it would obviously disable the optical stabilization of the iPhone in some physical way, which is quite difficult to disable nowadays (I recommend you see images about of optical stabilizers), in the iPhone it cannot be disabled via software no matter how much that option appears in some apps.
And yes, I know there are ways to reduce that jittering, the ninja walk ... but it's a shame to be having to resort to these techniques every time we want to take a shot ... Ah! video can also be cropped to avoid edges.
So nothing, I am really glad that you have not had these problems with your Osmo Mobile 2 and your iPhone XS, the best audiovisual investment of the moment.

    A greeting!

I JUST PURCHASED THE OSMO 3 AND FOR SOMETHING I WALK IN THIS FORUM. YOU OPEN THE DJI APP AND DO NOT LAST ANY MINUTE WHEN THE APP EXITS
I RECORD WITH IT AND IF YOU NOTICE A SHAKE IN THE VIDEO AND THAT IS AN IPHONE 6 PLUS
I THOUGHT I HAVE MADE AN EXCELLENT PURCHASE AND FOR THE PRICE BUT MY TIME IS WORTH MORE AND I HAVE TO LOOK FOR VIDEOS FORUMS. THE TRUTH WOULD NOT BUY IT AND IF I CAN RETURN IT I RETURN IT
