Today we will do a Solidarity Review of a new application that was launched on the App Store just a few days ago and that was presented by the University of Jaén on the World Day Against Gender Violence.
I am referring to SOS Helpers for iPhone, the latest application developed by the company DELACROY Innoware SL SOS Helpers for iPhone helps people who are in any situation of risk, and in particular, those women who suffer gender violence and is available in 5 languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
DELACROY Innoware SL is a new technological innovation company, created at the beginning of this year 2010 by some young Andalusian entrepreneurs.
These young entrepreneurs have had the brilliant idea of creating the Helpers platform, a new and innovative initiative in the form of a virtual social network, in its version for iPhone, and being very useful for any type of emergency situation.
Through it, by simply pressing a button, you will be able to send an SMS with your postal address and GPS coordinates to 5 predefined contacts along with a specific message.
The Helpers platform is a social application initiative that promotes immediate attention and assistance in situations of crisis, danger or physical risk to any person, simultaneously fostering the involvement of the social environment.
In its first version, a simple emergency notification module has been provided free of charge to the entire user community through which each user, called "SER", can send an automatic SMS with minimal intervention, which includes their GPS position and a personalized help message to all the contacts you want, called "HELPERS"; the «HELPERS» contacts will also be able to access the tracking of the GPS position of the «SER» user after the activation of the alert.

I know that many people are not going to be interested, and others will say that it is not their business but I am going to give you the figures of women murdered in Spain in recent years, and not to get an easy tear, but to check which is a Real and very serious problem:
- Year 2007: 71 women murdered.
- Year 2008: 84 women murdered.
- Year 2009: 68 women murdered.
- And in the 11 months of this year 2010: 77 women murdered (Until 29-11-2010).
I ask that since it is a Free Application and that thanks to it, perhaps a woman will not be able to suffer abuse or worse, spread this solidarity action among your friends and family.
