TouchID can be fooled

TouchID

Touch ID (Apple's fingerprint sensor) has been with us for a couple of years now, and many of us are used to its daily use, trusting in this security measure to protect our data and our phone.

But How reliable is TouchID? Surely someone has considered it, and there are really people who have put this sensor to the test, the result is surprising to say the least.

Not expensive equipment or anything like thatTo deceive TouchID, you only need products derived from silicone, some more components and about 15 minutes, this is "worrying", since many people believed that said sensor did not work if they did not detect that what was actually on top was a finger Human, however, the curious team of «Tested» has been able to demonstrate how easy it is to breach this fingerprint reader (provided that the requirements are met).

The idea is, using various chemicals derived from silicone that are commonly used to "simulate" parts of the human body, create a mold of the fingerprint of the owner of the iPhone, and then, with graphite, give conductivity to the mold.

From that we can deduce how the sensor works, and that is that the sensor is not continuously on (it would eat up the battery) but it is activated when you put your finger on the button, it detects electrical conductivity thanks to the metal ring that surrounds it, to later activate the reader and capture the necessary data.

You can see it with your own eyes:

As those responsible for this feat say, all that is needed is a reproduction faithful to reality in terms of relief, it does not need to be hot or anything like that, only that and that it is capable of conducting electricity.

Perhaps the most worrying thing is that they have not only managed to unlock an iPhone 5s, but they have also managed to unlock the new ones without problems iPhone 6 and 6 Plus that supposedly include an improved TouchID, capable of capturing fingerprints with much more detail than its predecessor.

Luckily for everyone, this method requires that we make a mold in situ of the finger, something that I doubt anyone in their right mind would allow, so we should not worry too much about this happening.

Hopefully Apple takes note and see this in future sensors, since thanks to this sensor we remember you get access to the device, the AppStore and even to perform payments with Apple Pay.

I think it is easier to guess an eight-digit password before some brainless unlocks a foreign iPhone like that

They are pure nonsense, all those idiocies to circumvent the touch ID, you need to have the fingerprint, to create molds or a kind of artificial fingerprint and also have the mobile logically. not everyone can have those two things.

The truth is that it is something silly of course I respect the dedication they used and they are thanked for playing mini-spies but you would have to have all the articles to be able to do it and I mean clearly from the fingerprint to the iphone and if the iPhone was found? What if the person never activated the id sensor? And if I had both as rays, do you get all that before the user blocks the Imei? You have to reason a little more….

Well, if a rubbery conductive fingerprint with Touch-ID is enough, it is better that they do not try with a Samsung hahaha, even a photocopy works. Absurd desire to show that something that is exceedingly safe is rape ... How strange that they have not tried to cut off a finger 😉

Graphite silicone molds? Of course ! This is achieved in the corner store ... any thief will be more efficient with a knife or gun and force the phone to be unlocked before stealing it. What a useless report ...

    Lie hahaha
I think they want to discredit Apple's patents

Better to steal the mobile and cut off the victim's finger, you end up earlier and cheaper.

What the hell does Apple have to do with it, there is no way to avoid this, THEY ARE CLONING A FINGER !! It is as if it were an authentic one. I'm already tired of seeing these kinds of posts about Touch ID

Technocub The samsung is more difficult to Forge the fingerprint, it does not work with a photocopy, because it does not even work your own finger haha

I do not know what is more silly the note I read, or how stupid the action of these guys to discredit the iPhone, God! How stupid this note

The security of the footprint is the best, no other manufacturer has been able to achieve it better, in the movies mission impossible this also comes out .. hahaha.

Guys, you have to understand that these types of articles are curiosities, nobody tries to discredit the iPhone (and less in a blog about them: D) since it is even said by Motorola that the TouchID is the best fingerprint reader in the smartphone market, There are simply people of all kinds in the world and in this case a group of curious people have wanted to test to what extent TouchID is reliable, obviously, as many of you say, this situation will not happen in real life, due to that no one would allow a fingerprint mold to be made in this way so that the iPhone could later be stolen, but it is worth knowing to what extent this sensor can protect us ^^

if possible? Well of course it is possible, they are the ones who make the reader and those who know how to hack it, or it is a coincidence that the Chinese carry the apple watch that is not for sale yet. 18 minutes for nothing you have to see that waste of time.
