You can now use Google Assistant on your Sonos speakers

Sonos continues in its unstoppable race to equip its speakers with the latest advances, not only in terms of sound quality but also in terms of virtual assistants. It's been a long time since you added the ability to install Alexa on your speakers with mic (Sonos One, Move, and Beam) and now take another huge step to differentiate yourself from the competition by adding Google Assistant. It thus becomes the first system that allows either of the two virtual assistants on their devices, allowing users to choose which one suits them best.

From now on it is possible to add Google Assistant to any of the Sonos microphone speakers. The installation process is done from the Sonos application itself, in just a couple of minutes, with a practically identical procedure to the one that must be done to add Alexa. At the moment it is not possible to have the two virtual assistants in the same speaker, something that the company says it is working on but has not yet achieved. What is possible is to install different assistants in your Sonos system, having Alexa in the bedroom and Google Assistant in the living room, also allowing interaction between the two, since if you start a song in Alexa, you can ask what song sounds to Google.

With Google Assistant you can control music and radio playback, turn the television on and off with your Sonos Beam by asking Google, listen to news summaries and control your smart home if you have accessories compatible with the Google assistant. And if privacy concerns you, All Sonos speakers with a microphone have a touch control that completely bypasses the microphone until you turn it on again. In addition to compatibility with Alexa (Amazon) and Google Assistant, it is important to remember that Sonos speakers are compatible with airPlay 2 and therefore with Siri.
