Based on the source code, OS X could be renamed macOS

Currently, Apple's operating systems are called iOS (originally iPhoneOS), tvOS, watchOS, and OS X, where the X is a 10 and that is the system that happened to OS 9. As you can see, the operating system of the apple computers has a name that is out of tune, but that is something that could have its days numbered: the code OS X source makes us think that soon it will be called macOS.

The discovery has been made by the developer Edward Marques in the source code of the latest stable version of OS X which is 10.11.4, where you have found a file called FUFlightViewController_MacOS.nib in of the private framework FlightUtilities. As you can see in the following screenshot, the file was modified on August 23, 2015, so Apple's plans to update the name of its desktop operating system seem to come a long way.

macOS could complete the family of Apple operating systems

MacOS

I even think Mountain Lion (10.8) and if I remember correctly, the operating system was called Mac OS X, the word "Mac" having been removed since then. It is logical to think that in at some point they will have to stop using the X / 10, but after so long with that name, OS XI or OS 11 would not look too good. Apparently, Apple plans that all its operating support have a name made up of a distinctive lowercase word (i-, watch-, tv- and mac-) followed by the letters OS which, as you all know, stand for "Operating System."

If there are no surprises, Apple will introduce new versions of iOS and OS X at the WWDC usually held in June. There are few who think that at that event they will present iOSX, or rather wish to do so dreaming of the same system for mobile devices and Apple computers, but the latest discovery by Marques could definitely close the door to that possibility.

Hi Wazemak. It was capitalized and with a space: Mac OS.

      A greeting.

Let's see, haha, you publish everything for me. I have a PC running OSX, the startup does in noquiet mode, and more than one of the lines of the startup appear the words "MacOS"

In fact, before it was called LisaOS, then MacOS, MacOS X, OSX ...

But the first is in lowercase ...

      A greeting.

Now is when Apple goes off on a tangent and continues to stubbornly calling OS X for Macs and iOS for iPhone or iPad. I also think Apple considers convergence enough as they offer it, to be able to continue what you are doing on the Mac on the iPad and vice versa. They still pull for being able to use the iPhone screen as a trackpad (there is already an app, but I don't know if it works) if you use the iPad Pro 12,9 or the 9,7, since you can answer the call or message from the iPad , what would be missing is that you could respond to WhatsApp and the like.
