The smartphones of the Cupertino company usually have many defects, but what they do not sin is generally to have "faults" at the level of multimedia consumption. This is how for years Apple has absolute compatibility with various audiovisual industry standards such as HDR, DolbyVision, DolbyAtmos ... etc. On this occasion, YouTube is usually late when it comes to including news in its application for iOS, well, in reality this happens with almost all the applications that Google develops for Apple, they are one step behind. Anyway, YouTube has been updated and has finally included support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology in its YouTube videos for the iPhone 11.
For clarification, with iPhone 11 I also want to refer to the entire range of devices launched a few months ago: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Even though the iPhone 11 does not reach Full HD resolution on its screen, it has also received this feature. Things change on the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, where we will be able to select 1080p 60 FPS with HDR. It should be remembered that the possibility of playing video with HDR functionality is present in iOS from the iPhone X presented in 2017.
To be able to select HDR playback as well as change video resolution we simply have to select a video, play it and at the same time click on the icon with the three dots (...) that we find in the upper right corner of the player within the YouTube application. If we choose "Quality" we will be able to see the list of the different qualities that the video offers us. Not that there are many HDR recorded, but at least those that are will again be fully compatible with the YouTube application.
