How to translate your Pebble menus into Spanish

Pebble-Spanish

The Pebble smartwatch has been improving at a cruise pace for a few months. After a somewhat "slowed down" start in which the updates were coming with a dropper, for a few months the options that our Pebble offers us are enormous, and with the recent arrival of the version 2.0 for both the watch firmware and the iOS app, even more so. But there is a small flaw that many find annoying: the menus are not translated into Spanish. Thanks to one of our readers, @ Panwat0 on Twitter, we can now enjoy the menus of our Pebble in the language of Cervantes with a few firmwares that he himself has modified and wanted to share with all of us. It has also eliminated the clock themes that come by default and that practically nobody uses. We explain how to get and install them on your Pebble.

Firmware updated to version 2.0.2

The procedure is very simple and can be done from your iPhone without problems. It is important to remind you that they are modified, unofficial firmwares, and therefore each one is solely responsible for their installation. I insist, the procedure is very simple by following the steps I describe below. The first thing is to access the dropbox folder with the modified firmwares and incorporate them into our Dropbox. Once this is done, we open Dropbox on our iPhone and select the corresponding firmware. There are three different versions, one for the Pebbles whose serial number begins with numbers, another for those that begin with letters, and another for the new Pebble Steel. The serial number is on the back of the watch.

Once selected, even if it gives us an error when trying to open it, don't worry, click on the icon at the bottom left (the square with the arrow) and select the option "Open in ...".

Then select the Pebble application from the options that appear on the screen.

The Pebble application will notify us that it is an unofficial firmware, click on Continue and the process will start. Do not touch anything on your Pebble until the update is complete, after which you will see the message that our Pebble is updated.

If you browse the menus of your smartwatch you will see that you already have all the menus translated into Spanish. Logically, when there is a new Pebble update you will lose them. @ Panwat0 will update the Dropbox folder with the new firmwares. If at any time you want to go back to the original firmware, here you have them. You just have to repeat the same procedure using these files.

How do I get the original firmware back?

    1.    Luis Padilla said

You should put your Pebble in recovery mode (pressing the back, select, and top buttons at the same time for about 30 seconds). After that, re-link your Pebble to your iPhone as if it were brand new, and it will update to the latest firmware automatically.

@ Panwat0 has shared the original firmwares, so you don't have to put the Pebble in recovery mode, repeating the process with those firmwares is enough.

You have to see what people do for not learning English, study a little English or you will end up like Ana Botella.

I manage perfectly in English, but I prefer to use my things in Spanish.

I write, read and translate English perfectly, but like Luis, I prefer to have my things in Spanish. So I decided to start translating the pebble.

Good work. But for app developers these custom firmwares are a headache… I have an application translated into several languages, and it obviously uses the original fw as a base. Now I receive hundreds of emails because they do not work well with customs fw ... 🙂
Let's see if Pebble removes multilanguage officially and developers can stop dealing with this kind of thing

Anyway, it is a comment not a complaint. You have done what they should have done months ago.

Another little thing, the explanation is made from the Dropbox app, I think it would be better if you did it from Safari, since I don't think everyone has Dropbox. It is more "universal" hehehehe.

Right… I'm so used to using Dropbox that it hadn't even crossed my mind to do it with Safari.
