A bug in iOS 7 allows you to deactivate Find My iPhone without a password

disable-find-my-iphone

A serious bug has been found in iOS 7. This bug allows us to deactivate the option "Find my iPhone" if we have to type our password to which the device is associated. So if the device is stolen, we can forget to recover it through the option that allows us to control the iDevice remotely with which we can block it, emit a sound or erase the device.

The worst of all is the facility to disable this option. The error can be found on any device with iOS 7.0.4, following a few simple steps that involve making changes in the iCloud section of the Settings section, adding a dummy password and removing the name of the account where it indicates iCloud.

Here we show you a video where it is shown how disable the option "Find my iPhone". Personally I have tried it on an iPad 2, iPad Mini and an iPhone 5 and the option “Find my iPhone".

Below we show you the text attached to the video, of the person who found this security flaw in iOS 7:

Major security flaw in Find My iPhone within the iCloud section. This video shows a major Apple security flaw that you should fix ASAP. I have tried to contact Apple but no one has bothered to reply.

Obviously, this will not work on a device that has Touch ID or passcode enabledSince an attacker would have to pass the lock screen to be able to access the iCloud settings and it does not seem that this failure disables the access lock. However, it is still a pretty big security problem.

As reported from MacRumors, liOS 7.1 devices have not reproduced this security issue. We assume that Apple would already have knowledge of this failure and will have fixed it.

Tested on iOS 7.1 beta 5 and find my iPhone won't disable

And what about you having to unlock the terminal first ... it doesn't count, right?

If you have the iPhone without a code, the irresponsibility belongs to the user.

I just did it, because I bought the used equipment and the "owner" did not remember his iCloud password, therefore I followed all the steps, and I must thank this post in advance, IF IT WORKS COMPLETELY. Thanks really save me a $$$ greetings!

and did you restore it or not?

  4.   Louis apple said

The only problem is that if they restore the device, it will ask for the iCloud account that they deactivated with the bug. Normally Apple informs you when you deactivate find my iPhone on your device, but with this method, if you deactivate it, no mail will arrive and I repeat, if you restore it will ask you for the account that it had previously linked.

This can be done to change the id on the phone, not the Apple database, since if you restore you will be surprised that it will ask you for the id of the old icloud and not the one you entered by circumventing security.

IF IT WORKED IN 7.0.4 BUT EYE I PUT MY ICLOUD BUT AS THE PERSON HAD GETTING HIM LOOK FOR MY IPHONE WHEN UPDATING SURPRISE IT REQUESTED THE OTHER PERSON'S ACCOUNT OR BECAUSE I HAD MINE, IT WORKED WHEN UPDATING ASI KE IF THEY UPDATED IT DIDN'T SERVE IT HAS BEEN PROCESSED

But even if we do not update nothing happens, I have a doubt my Iphone 4 also bought it used and the one who sold it said that he did not remember the Icloud password, but I did this process and I managed to deactivate it and put my own account (excellent contribution)

But now my question is that if I put a chip on it, will it work?

When I created my own icloud account, I rejected the option to update automatically to prevent me from asking for the previous email, but my question is that if I put a chip on it, I won't ask for the old email, can someone help me?

    QUESTION
I did this process and can I update to IOS7.1?

  9.   Victor said

With this bug you can update the cell phone without leaving the account of the previous owner

    1.    Luis said

Victor, is it a question or are you affirming it. If you restore, it asks you for an iCloud password, if you put it in the dfu and restore it from iTunes, it asks for an iCloud account, since if you update by wifi it does not ask you for an account. That's what you mean? Has anyone tried it?

I bought an iphone I removed the icluod account, I restored it but it appears that it is in find my iphone and I did not remove it I thought that when restoring it it would be removed

    1.    Ignacio López said

You have to reset not restore it as it loads a copy of the content you already had, along with the settings. The only way to deactivate find my iphone is by entering the password, unless you have the version that appears in this post iOS 7,0.4, although in the ones prior to iOS 7.1 it also worked.

well, I reature an iphone 4 my question is: how do I remove the icloud if it asks me to activate it? thank you!

    1.    Luis Padilla said

Either you access your icloud account from a computer and remove the device lock or enter the password directly on your device.

it is a program to remove the icloud lock from any iphone, tested with iphone 5 16gb, just download it from mega, unzip it, run it and follow the steps, if you get an error, try disabling the antiviru, and do it again
