An Apple TV and a HomePod with a FaceTime camera

This is not one of the new devices that Apple plans to launch immediately, but according to several rumors for a long time, the Cupertino company would be working on this hybrid device between an Apple TV and a HomePod with a camera to make FaceTime calls. Now good old Mark Gurman, he comes back to the fore indicating that the Cupertino company is still working on this device.

Gurman answers questions about a new HomePod

And when Gurman was asked about the option that Apple is working on a device called HomePod but with nuances of Apple TV and with a FaceTime camera, he didn't cringe in answering that this has been developing at apple for a long time:

To the question of, Do you think there are still options to see a new HomePod or similar home device? Gurman responded: I absolutely believe we'll see a new HomePod, specifically, a device that combines a camera for FaceTime calls, a HomePod, and an Apple TV. I don't think a larger HomePod is being developed just for music, but maybe a new HomePod mini is in the works. In any case, the combined device between the two has probably been in Apple's hands for a while now.

Remember that the latest new HomePod mini model was released in 2020, the larger HomePod was removed from Apple's product catalog, and to date we haven't had any new models. In addition, Apple TV is still a product with a fairly small market, so it is not surprising that the Cupertino company is considering the option of launching a hybrid device, which adds the best of both devices and also allows the user to perform video calls via FaceTime thanks to a built-in camera.
