Apple leads sales in Q1 according to IDC

These are not official company figures but they are quite reliable as Apple continues to lead the market for portable products, according to the latest report shown by the IDC. In this case, the Cupertino firm has achieved sell 21,2 million units of products called "wearables" or "notebooks" including AirPods, Apple Watch, Beats headphones, and so on.

In this sense and comparing the data with the same period last year, the company grew by 13,3 million units or what is the same 23,7% of the total market share of these devices, with an annual growth of 59.9% Logically these data are from the first quarter of the year for the firm and we all know that it has not been at all a good year for anyone with the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Jitesh Ubrani, who is the head of research in the IDC Mobile Device Trackers, explains that Apple was partly favored by the increase in people working at home, which without a doubt may be the only positive point of everything that happened, at least for the firm. And it should be remembered that this pandemic also directly affected Apple's production and logistics in China and the rest of the countries, so this may affect future products.

At the moment Apple continues to lead this market and just below Apple appears an impressive Xiaomi with 10,1 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2020, or what is the same, a 14.0% market share in this period. In general, shipments have grown compared to the previous period and as we say it is partly thanks to the teleworking of millions of people who were partly forced to update or buy new products to carry out these tasks. It is the only positive note that Apple can get from all this.
