Apple wants to promote original podcast content on its platform

Apple's podcast platform has grown a lot in recent years, and not precisely thanks to Apple. A couple of years ago, when top content creators on the Apple Podcast voiced their displeasure at the lack of a monetization method, Eddy Cue claimed they were working it.

Two years later, Apple still does not offer a system that allows content creators to monetize, in the style of YouTube, the podcasts that are available on its platform, forcing these to seek life by inserting ads during playback or by going to other platforms.

After the announcement of the march to Spotify of the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience earlier this week, it seems that in Cupertino they want, at once, to get the batteries. According to the guys at Bloomberg, Apple has thought create two original podcast types.

One of them would focus on creating audio spinoffs of their original series and while the other would be original shows that could eventually be adapted to future video content available on Apple TV +.

Apple's efforts on its podcast platform go through promote content available on Apple TV + mainly. According to this medium, in order to carry out these ideas, Apple is looking for a boss to be in charge of this project, who would report directly to the current head of Apple's podcast, Ben Cave.

Last July, Bloomberg claimed that Apple was working on creating content focused on productions available on Apple TV +. The first series that will have its corresponding podcast that delves into each of the episodes is LittleAmerica.

The diversification that we can currently find in podcasting is beginning to be a headache for some users. A few years ago, we could listen to all our favorite podcasts from any application, however today, if we want to listen to a specific podcast, we have to download an application (for example iVoox), if we want to listen to another podcast that is not in the previous one or in Apple podcast, we have to download another application (for example Spotify) and so we could continue.

Who was going to tell us a few years ago, that in order to continue enjoying our favorite podcasts, we would have to have 3 or 4 different applications. The only good thing is that at least all of them are completely free unlike streaming video services, so in the end you just have to get used to it.
