The category of smart watches and in-ear headphones has long been dominated by Apple. Apple Watch and AirPods usually appear in all the results on the sales made month by month, although it is true that Apple does not officially give figures of the devices sold it is true that all analysts agree on the good health of sales.
IDC indicates that this year Apple will continue to dominate the wearables market, devices among which are logically the Apple Watch and AirPods. The competition in terms of headphones is still high and tough, but they do not seem to have rivals in terms of the value for money they offer. Since the arrival of the AirPods and the Apple Watch it was thought that there were already many similar devices from other brands and that it would not be possible to go beyond "normal" sales figures, but although, as we have mentioned before, Apple never indicates these sales, they have always been devices that have appeared at the top of all the lists made by external firms such as the IDC case.
A 27% increase in shipments of wearables for Apple
The Cupertino company would have sold about 55,6 million wearables this past year in which the Apple Watch and AirPods logically enter. In the same period of the previous year, the company would have sold some 43,7 million total units. The increase is therefore 27% from one year to the next and it seems that this upward trend will continue at least during this same year and who knows if for the rest of years.
It depends a lot on the news that are released for AirPods and Apple Watch that these figures continue to rise, but what is clear is that today Apple has the upper hand in this market and more when in Xiaomi is said to have sold about 13,5 million units and Samsung just over 13 million.
