Apple continues with its patents and in this case they have just received confirmation of a patent in which a strategically placed sensor on the strap would allow the user to put on the watch and be identified without having to key in the watch code or activate the iPhone for you to unlock it.
This would be a breakthrough to be made on Apple's smartwatch straps. Just by putting on the watch this sensor added on the strap would detect the texture of the skin of our wrist and it would be able to recognize us as the owners of the device, this would be a great advance in terms of comfort of use.
The patent explains that this bihometric sensor could be configured in various ways, but the important thing is that with the texture of the skin it would be able to recognize us and allow the unlocking of the device. This new technology would provide an added security to the device and obviously I would still add the ability to enter the code manual unlocking by the user as with the Face ID of our current iPhone X and XS.
In this case and as in all the others in which patents are the protagonists of the news, we have to take the information with tweezers and no illusions with its possible implementation since it is possible that these will never be seen on the device officially. In Apple they usually patent all kinds of technologies to shield ideas. These types of patents usually bring millions of dollars to the company when other firms try to use the same technology in their devices or similar technologies.
I think another reader already said it, but I repeat it. It would be great if more health data could be collected with the possible sensors on the strap.
