Call who you want with the emergency call system

As indicated in Macrumors, a bug has been discovered in the iPhone software that allows make calls to any type of phone number using the emergency call system.

For those who do not know it, the emergency call system allows calling special numbers (112, etc.) without the need to have a balance and even with the mobile blocked.

Well, from what it seems, the bug in the iPhone operating system allows a call to be made to any phone number after entering emergency mode.

The risk of this bug is obvious, since If your iPhone is stolen, they will be able to make calls with it without having to unlock the terminal.

    but this is old,
when you hit the emergency call then the round button twice
takes you to the favorites and there you can call,
They have not solved it with 2.1? tiny apple trees!
To avoid this, you must change the assignment of the double-click function to go to favorites.
    greetings.

It seems that now the debate is between whether it is a bug or a functionality made on purpose.

    What is your opinion?

At first it seems like a bug, but it is curious that without entering the pin you can call whoever you want, it is as if they accessed the network without registering ...
I think the pin must be stored in the memory of the iphone in some way, this is not serious ...
I think it is a big mistake.

    Hahaha
if we go, who's going to let us call for free, right?

I have tried various things with my iPhone 2.1

    - With only pin. If I don't put the pin I have access to numbers, favorites, etc.

    - With pin + security code. If I restart the iPhone without putting the pin and without putting the security code, if I call SOS and dial any number, it does nothing, it only takes me to the screen to enter the security code. If I press the home button, once or twice it takes me to the same screen of «enter the code» to enter the security code.

    - With the pin already set, locking the keyboard activates the security code. If I don't enter the code and call SOS and dial a number, it does call. But even if I press the home button once or twice, it brings me to the screen to enter the security code and I have no access to numbers or favorites.

So if they send us the mobile phone and it has the security code, if they call, they will surely charge us because the pin is already set, if the pin has not been set it will not work.

I have sent this news to many pages, such as AppleSfera, and they have never wanted to publish it, I don't know why xD.

Basically if they send us the phone with the sim started, we are screwed.

If you have, do you want to say that we can make free calls ???

  9.   Lluís said

Free surely not because it only goes when you have already started with the pin, with which the calls must be charged, at least with the tests I have done with my 2.1.

Let's see guys, just what happens is that if they send us the cell phone, people can call, without unlocking it, and they CHARGE US for it. In other words, the blocking of a cell phone is a lifetime so as not to call. So those of apple should not know!

They could just fix it by putting in a list of emergency numbers…. Come on, what can I see if they would manga it to the guy by calling the telepizza for "emergency". Come on don't fuck with me!

It is as easy as removing the double-click option and the favorites list in settings and pointing to the start itself or to the ipod.

Here in Switzerland we are screwed, automatically when you turn on the phone it restarts you do not have to put a pin, instead you have to have a security number that is blocked every so often, damn I can not call for free through you ...... greetings
