Little by little but with a firm step is the path that Apple CarPlay is following in the vehicles that we can find in dealerships. This year 2017 has been really interesting in terms of new incorporations of this Apple service in cars and obviously this coming year it will continue in the same line.
Many more "affordable" range cars are coming in already equipped with CarPlay which is certainly good for everyone. Now with a few days left until the start of the auto show in Los Angeles, a list of new models is added that will be compatible with this software.
Although in this list there are car models that we can say are high-end, this is good since the expansion in the rest of the models of the same brands is done almost at par, but obviously they incorporate it in the more powerful models and expensive first. The list of new Apple CarPlay compatible models is:
- 2018BMW i3
- 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
- 2018 Hyundai Kona
- 2018 Jeep Wrangler
- 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
- 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo
- 2019 Audi A8
- 2019 Genesis G70
- 2019 Lincoln MKC
- 2019 Lincoln Nautilus
- 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS
- 2019 Porsche Cayenne
- 2019 Subaru Accent
- 2019 Volvo XC40
In this case, as we can see, the models are high-end, but I said at the beginning that other brands such as Seat, Citroen, Volkswagen, Skoda, Kia, Mazda and others are adding this system to their cars to avoid distractions while driving. On the other hand, some even offer the two options, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this is a tough competitor in this segment although we must continue working on it to incorporate new functions and more options, above all to make compatible as many applications as possible in both systems for obtain greater safety at the wheel.
