Update after update, always the same questions. In fact, if my mind is correct, Apple hasn't released an iOS version that improves battery performance noticeably in a long time. But my experience with iOS 8.3 is undoubtedly encouraging, the battery consumptions have been considerably improved, more so if we consider that it is a beta phase. In this article I am going to tell you about examples such as iOS 8.3 improves the battery.
I have always been an "advanced" user of iOS since I came to this world, without a doubt I liked to tinker, which has brought me more problems than benefits. I still remember those first fateful iOS 7 betas, the worst thing I'd ever played on a phone from Symbian, and no, I'm not exaggerating, that's how I felt. In the same way, I remember the incredible battery life that I could get on my long trips to what is without a doubt the best mobile OS that my fingers have touched, iOS 6, and I say it, I have touched them all.
The recent acquisition in February of a new iPhone forced me to dispense with the Jailbreak that I enjoyed on my iPhone 5 (which is still alive and that my partner enjoys), the mobile came to me with a fatal iOS 8.1.3 totally closed and to To top it off, the UDID that allowed me to install betas had it registered to my iPhone 5. But Apple brought me the solution to my curiosity quickly, iOS 8.3 in the form of a public beta, and the OS needed a public beta.
It was never so easy to install a beta version that I remember, in fact, I don't remember ever being able to install a beta version of iOS without even plugging the phone into iTunes. So What can go wrong?, let's go there, total, it can't be worse than the previous versions and following my tutorial I got ready to enjoy iOS 8.3 with almost total certainty that I was going to have to restore sooner or later.
On the other hand, since its release, I have been using the final version of iOS 8.3
Already in iOS 8.3
The conclusions are certainly not as bad as I could expect before installing it, but if Apple had been encouraged to make a beta public for something, it would be. The experience is not really bad, in fact, it hardly reduces the experience of using iOS 8 (which is undoubtedly the worst I have lived in iOS) and as a gift I was pleasantly surprised with the battery consumption.
This experience continues with the final version.
In addition, iOS 8.3 enables the option to activate 2G - 3G -LTE (4G) depending on our tastes, which used in the correct way is undoubtedly one of the best methods to save battery.
That said, going back to the background, I am going to show a series of battery performances, but since the battery and its consumption depend highly on the user in question and their use of the mobile, I am going to put several examples, although really, looking at the usage statistics showing iOS is not so necessary.
The first example is my ownAs you can see, these consumptions are referred to a person who works in an office, where they have WiFi, who receives an average of eighty emails a day. In any case, in use it is seen which are the most used and most consuming applications.
The following three screenshots show an iPhone 5S, an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 6 Plus respectively, with different types of use, all offering quite good characteristics. The first shows an abuse of WhatsApp which is the battery drain par excellence, but it is the only one of the six captures that shows a battery that is clearly deficient.
Is that being a power user?
I would like it but I have cydia !!!
But in the first captures, how much% of battery do you have? It is that you have cut the upper part and they are not seen.
Sorry, in the first 40% in the second 20% and in the third 30%.
I am in version 8.1.2 very comfortable with the Jailbreak, so if I do not decide to update it at the moment ,.
I have the IPhone 6 and the battery lasts more than a day without problems
I tested the veins of 8.3 and improved the battery and now I have the official one and it also improves apart from the performance that I notice it more fluid and faster
But is it real? So I update having i6 +?
I have noticed a lot of improvement in battery and performance and tested the betas and that is why I updated to the official 8.3 on my Iphone 6
It lasts less for me
Well, I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.3 and I have many problems, to download applications it always asks me for the password with Touch ID activated, the battery runs out in the blink of an eye (which did not happen to me before), every time Every time I want to unlock my iPhone with Touch ID, I get an error and I have to put the numerical password and in all the applications that I have Touch ID security activated (Line, Telegram, Research Kit, etc. ..) it does not read my fingerprint fingerprint, have if they solve this quickly.
This morning using Spotify for 2 hours with more Runtastic data while running those 2 hours the battery went from 40% to 21%. I consider it a fairly tight consumption since the two apps are being used in the background. The general consumption has improved perfectly by 20% using an iPhone 6. My wife with Iphone 5 also says that it improves
I do not understand these consumptions, with ios 8.0.2 I can get from 13 to 14 hours of use.
with the iphone 4 it took between 7 and 8 hours.
with the iphone 4s it took him around 6 hours.
Anyone who lasts the phone 3 and 4 hours of use from 100 to 0% seems extremely low to me, I would restore everything from the factory without restoring a backup, it is the best way to check if any configuration or something is causing that consumption exgaerado.
I have an iPhone 5c and I have noticed a considerable improvement, reaching up to 15 hours standby and 6 hours in use. Those who have a problem and it drains in a short time, possibly it is an error that they are pulling from a previous version, I had it when updating to 8.1.3 and looking for a backup without errors and holy remedy!

I'm going to install it! I didn't want to lose my jailbrake 😂

Delighted to have helped Miguel, a pleasure! Thanks to you for the article and to continue this good. Greetings!
What makes me funny is that all the mobiles that we discard are passed on to our partners or our parents ...
Right thought and real situation. All the best!
to me in a perfect 5s duration and battery
Download the iphone 4s ios and whatever you select to update it. it tells me that this version is incompatible. Does anyone know what to do there? If there are no more versions or where to find the same 8.3 but compatible?
It lasts very little for me u_U
Nel is still the same
They fix things and decompose others a disgusting, x example the games are horrible horrible a real disgusting !!!!
Well, we will have to update then!
Buenoooo update to my iphone 6 and iphone 5s and when they call me they both ring at the same time being different phone go botchedaaaaaaaaaaaa
You use the same account for both phones and you have to disable it in settings / FaceTime / phone calls. Iphone and so it will stop ringing in both and it is not a botch, it is an option you have. S2
thanks partner, fixed
Hi .. I don't know if it's a problem ... When I'm on safari for several minutes ... About 10-15 minutes the phone starts to heat up (it gets hot the same when I play stormraiders) and the battery goes down very fast, I have a 15 and what that I have been slow to write and send this comment has dropped me by 7 percent !!! It took me 3 minutes to write it !! Any solution ?? Is it fixed in IOS 8.3 ??
The fast discharge of the battery also happens to me. I installed a few days ago and everything seemed to be going well and it works great honestly, but the battery drains much faster. Before I could spend a day and a half with normal use and now I do 8 hours raging. What anger, the truth !!! I was very content with the battery in the IPhone 6 and now .. Poof. Are you going to send a solution?
I have updated my iPhone 5 and the battery has taken a huge step back in life. Before it lasted a lot with 8.2, now it goes down from 100% in the blink of an eye. This comment has taken 3% battery in 2 minutes. Donwgrade!
Hey, how do you downgrade? I am considering going back to version 8.2 or 8.1
I have an Iphone 5s, the mobile is only 5 months old and I'm doing great, the pain came when I updated it to 8.2 the battery had failures, finally the beta 8.3 arrived and it improved a lot, now I have updated it to the official one and it seems to last less…
For the rest, the mobile works wonderfully, very fluid and without failures as some say in the Touch ID 🙂
David I ask you a question. I have an iphone 5 with ios 613, I never updated it and the truth is I'm doing quite well but the apps are already obsolete and I want to update to ios 83. The only fear is the performance of the battery, it would suffer much more wear, now with moderate use It lasts about 8 hours and it is 20% more or less. Thanks in advance and very good article
Sorry I wanted to put Miguel and a friend called me David
8with ios 8.2 the battery lasted me 12 hours now it lasts only 8, improvements?…. the operating system is getting worse
HAHA IT HAS AN AVERAGE OF 80 DAILY EMAILS AND UP TO SETTINGS IT CONSUMES MORE BATTERY>.
This article is a lie. I have an iPhone 6 and my battery performance has deteriorated a lot, which I used to find a luxury of 6. I am very sorry to update it
Well, seeing the comments… .I think I'm going to stay forever in IOS 8.1.2…. I'm a fan of Apple ... But it got worse .. I don't know ..
Hello, I have the iPhone 6 and the version is updated, I have 8.3 and it is incredible how little my battery lasts, it does not reach me even 4 hours ago and how do I get to play videos ... puff not even at 4 hours I think it arrives iva great with version 8.1.2 and even 8.2 but this is pathetic in terms of battery life time.
Could someone help me and explain if this has a solution? I mean, could I go back to a previous version or something? Thank you !!!
I have an iPhone 4s that updates to 8.3 via device but I saw that the battery was very bad, then I decided to update with a clean installation as a new iPhone and the battery is still worse, I do not reach 5 hours of use, I have disabled the options:
- Background update
- Automatic Updates
- iCloud Backup
- Contrast reduction
- Movement reduction
I only see the iPhone leaving it on and the percentage goes down fast.
I want to update iOS 8.3 but it asks me for a code, what should I do?
many say that the iPhone battery lasts. others say that it downloads very fast. If when using an ap for about 2 hours the battery decreases up to 20%, what would happen if I keep the Voice Over ap activated 24 hours a day? I am blind and I am thinking of purchasing an iPhone 5s. but, if the battery does not last anything? What do you suggest to me? or if there are no problems with keeping the voice over activated all the time and always using the Siri command?
