Most of the countries hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic are investing efforts and money to fight the virus. In Germany (as in many other countries) they have launched their application for mobile devices and smart watches that allows users who use these iPhone, Apple Watch or physical activity trackers such as Fitbit wristbands to share data on the symptoms of the coronavirus and this form report the spread of the pandemic in the country.
This application created by the Robert Koch Institute, is called Corona Datenspende and what it does is collect user information to share it and combat the spread of the virus. The application is totally free and one of the important functions to combat the disease is to locate the infected people, so the application registers their age and weight by zip code.
With this data it is possible to perfectly track the location but in addition to this data more information is needed and therefore it also allows prior user acceptance track changes in activity and sleep habits, heart rate, and body temperature.
Dirk Brockman, one of RKI's epidemiological experts explained to the media that they hope to reach 100.00 people but with about 10.000 it would be more than enough to have the epidemic "under control." Logically, the more people registered with the app, the better, but that depends on the people. According to the well-known Reuters media, Germany has the fourth highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases behind the United States, Spain and Italy. On the other hand, it is one of the countries with the least deaths from this disease so they are doing something well there, we are not going to go into details that we really do not know.
