As Apple is launching new betas, some of the new features that will come from the hand of the next big update of iOS 11 are discovered, an update that should hit the market before the end of the year. IOS 11.2 is currently in beta, but Apple has already started testing compatibility with 7,5W Qi chargers.
Currently iPhone models compatible with wireless charging: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are compatible with 5w chargers, but as Apple promised, the loading speed of these models would be increased in future updates, some updates that seem to be coming soon and will do so with iOS 11.2
According to the different tests carried out by the charger manufacturer RAVpower, using the Belkin Qi charger available in the App Store, a charger with support for a 7,5 w charging speed, the iPhone X has gone from 46% to 66% of battery in 30 minutes, while the same model, doing other chargers that do not offer a 7,5 w charge, has gone from 46% to 60% in half an hour. To make the tests as realistic as possible, airplane mode was disabled in both cases.
Thanks to support for 7,5w chargers, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X are capable of charge faster making use of induction chargers and as we have seen in the tests carried out by RAVpower, the charging time is reduced, but it is still slower than other devices currently available on the market.
Currently the Qi is compatible with chargers up to 15 watts, however, Apple has decided that moment It will only be compatible with chargers whose power is 7,5 w At best, not that much more compared to current 5w chargers, but the attempt is appreciated. Everything seems to indicate that we will have to wait for next generations of iPhone to be able to enjoy a faster wireless charging system.
More or less by the time you launch your wireless chargers .. what a coincidence
I do not understand, I have the white belkin and what does the update have to do with making it faster? Someone explain to me?
Via software the charge was limited to 5w in the new iPhones, but with this update you can use all the power offered by 7,5W chargers like the one you have.
So if I have the 15W Belkin, the iPhone X won't charge me, or will it just charge as if it were only 7,5W?
Thank you!
It will charge you at 7,5w maximum
