Google Tasks now available in the App Store after the Gmail web redesign

In just one week the annual conference Google I/O in which the company shows us what the progress and objectives are for the new year. We know that they are going to focus on the redesign made to the web version of Gmail. This new design allows integrate various services on a single screen.

One of those services is Google Tasks. In the desktop version of Gmail we have a section on the right where we can display the available tasks, add new ones and manage this content. For a few days it has been available in the App Store Google Tasks, an application that will help us manage our daily chores.

Google may have taken the wrong step with Google Tasks

Increase your productivity with Google Tasks. Record, manage and edit your tasks anytime, anywhere with lists that sync across all your devices. The integration with Gmail and Google Calendar allows you to complete your tasks in less time.

The new app called Google Tasks It has only one task: to manage the tasks of all services, that is, we can create task lists and associate them with different company services such as an email or a reminder in Calendar. It must be clear that it is a new application, has faults And personally, I don't think it's a useful app, but we'll talk about that later.

The app allows you to perform various tasks:

  • Record chores: We can create task lists, manage them with Google services, prioritize them, etc.
  • Subtasks: In the same list we can nest a main task and then add subtasks.
  • Gmail: Gmail's redesign places vital importance on integrating tasks with email assignment. So we can associate performing a certain action with a certain email.
  • Management of notices and notifications: Do you want to receive push notifications of what remains to be done?
  • G Suite: we can connect all the services of the Google Suite to integrate all the tasks in a coordinated team.

Personally, I think that the launch of this application is an error since I believe that one more tool, one more application, in the end is unfeasible. Is better have a host of tools in the same space to optimize the workspace as Google has done with its Gmail redesign, in this way, we have mail at our fingertips, on the one hand, and on the other, access to Google Calendar or Tasks .
