Apple has just increased the limit for downloading applications using our operator data from 150 to 200 MB. This small increase of 50MB is really a good thing for users who have strong data rates with their operators and in this case the top for movie downloads, video podcasts and all kinds of apps from the Apple store go up to 200 MB. We may think that it is little but in reality many of the downloads that we usually do have just this size or even a little smaller.
Today's data plans are much better in terms of size and download speeds - recently in the UK they are starting to use 5G networks with download speeds of up to 980 Mbps- and therefore the Cupertino company could even increase this cap that they have put in place for a long time in downloading apps. As I said, in principle most applications have this size or similar but it should be possible to download apps of more MB nowadays.
Logically, the data plans contracted by users are different in each case and it is certain that many of you never use the downloads via data connection so as not to run out of fees and many others have more than 20GB per month that you end up not really using. The downside of increasing this cap too much is that we can run out of data much faster And we have streaming services that consume a lot, so if we add the option of downloading such large apps we could fall short.
In short, everyone is free to use or not the data to download apps, podcasts and others, so it is good that Apple raises this limit a little beyond these 150 MB that they had not touched since 2017. Do you usually download apps or content with your data connection or only through Wi-Fi?
