iOS 14 is already on 72% of all supported devices

La Apple developer website just uploaded the first data about the iOS 14 adoption since it hit the market a few months ago. Based on this data, the adoption of iOS 14 exceeds the adoption data shown by iOS 13.

For a couple of years, Apple separate adoption data. On the one hand we find the adoption data related to the devices that have reached the market in the last 4 years and on the other all the devices that are compatible with the latest version of iOS available.

Regarding the adoption share of iOS 14 in all devices compatible with this version, this is at 72%, while iOS 13 is at 18%. The rest of the devices, 10%, are managed by a version prior to iOS 13.

But if we talk about Apple devices that are less than 4 years old, the adoption rate stands at 81%. 17% are still managed by iOS 13 and the remaining 2% are managed by versions prior to iOS 13.

Regarding the adoption of iOS 14 on iPads, things change a lot, since only 61% of all iPads compatible with iOS 14 have been updated to iOS 14, 21% for iOS 13 and the rest, 18 % is managed by iOS 12% or earlier versions. That figure it goes up to 75% when we talk about iPad models with 4 years or less.

The lower adoption rate of iOS 14 on the iPad confirms once again that this is a secondary product and often destined for the home, so it is likely that despite the continuous notifications that Apple sends to remind us that we have a pending update, users pass from doing so, we do not know if for fear that it will stop working as before or for simple laziness.
