Slide, create (pseudo) 3D images with your iPhone

Slide-3D

When Apple introduced the iPhone 6s, it also introduced Live Photos, "live" photos that record 1,5s before and after the moment of capture that move when we touch them. Since then, there have been many applications that have tried unsuccessfully to emulate this function, as was the case with Boomerang from Instagram. In the App Store there have always been some apps to do photos emulating 3D, but now a new one has arrived called slide.

Why have I commented on Live Photos if it really has nothing to do with 3D? Simply by movement. Slide, unlike other applications in the App Store, creates Animated gifs. Once the photo is taken and indicated on which point we want the effect to be applied, we will see that the scene moves back and forth, but in a fast movement and, in my opinion, quite short.

The main difference between Slide and other applications is when the scene is captured. As you can see in the previous video, we have to do a swipe gesture the phone so that the smartphone takes all the photos necessary for the final image to move. The process is much faster than other applications, but it is also much more limited. When others allow us to move the image by sliding with our fingers, Slide only shows us a movement so that we have the feeling that the image has depth.

Although the idea seems good to me, I think it is poorly carried out. I think the best thing would be if we could control movement of the image somehow. What would seem more natural to me to use it on the iPhone home screen would be that it moves as we move the iPhone, like the Parallax effect of iOS. Another way that would seem better to me than the automatic movement would be to be able to move it with your fingers, at least within the application. It is clear that an animated GIF is better to share anywhere.

If you are interested in this type of animation, you can download Slide for a price of € 1,99 in the App Store. It is available only for iPhone and it will be necessary to have at least an iPhone 5s.

This "Fyuse" is much better, it has been out for longer, even before the "live photos".
