The Face ID is not only a camera that is added to our iPhone or iPad and it is already enough to unlock the devices, the implementation of this sensor along with the rest of the technology necessary for its operation in the iPhone X during 2017 revolutionized without doubt this option of unlocking mobile devices and now it seems that after many rumors it could finally be seen on Macs.
The source code for the Mac operating system, macOS 11 Big Sur, shows what appears to be a TrueDepth camera ID, referred to by Apple on iOS devices as "PearlCamera". This identification is used in the iOS and iPadOS operating system, now it also reaches macOS.
The beta version of macOS Big Sur also shows what Apple calls "FaceDetect" and "BioCapture" used on iOS and iPadOS devices. These clear evidences towards the possible incorporation of the facial detection system had not been detected in the previous versions of the Mac OS, so it could be the definitive one.
Add that this is the first really important evidence about the possible implementation of this technology in Macs, it is true that it has been rumored that it could arrive for a long time, but there was no evidence as clear as this time. It remains to be seen how the rest of the necessary components are implemented but of course what seems clear is that in Cupertino they will continue to bet on this unlocking technology, something logical considering the good results obtained in the iPhone and iPad during these years.
