The mass forwarding of messages on WhatsApp takes another hit

The measures taken by the messaging application WhatsApp last year 2018 with the limitation of up to 5 forwardings per chat simultaneously helped, according to the data managed by the developers, in the reduction of up to 25% of message shipments worldwide. That same year, the double arrow that went one step further in the fight against mass mailings and showed that the same message had been sent many times. Today WhatsApp goes one step further with this measure and limits the forwarding of viral messages to a single chat.

The WhatsApp statement is clear, they will not prohibit us from forwarding messages but they do work so that they are not "Fake news" or similar the most sent messages in the app. This is what part of his statement published a few minutes ago says:

Are all forwarding discouraged? Of course not. We know that there are many users who forward useful information, as well as funny videos, memes, and reflections or prayers that they consider important. In addition, in recent weeks WhatsApp has also been used to organize public moments of support for frontline health workers. However, we did notice a significant increase in the number of forwards, which some users say can be overwhelming and contribute to the spread of misinformation. We consider it important to slow down the dissemination of these messages so that WhatsApp continues to be a space for personal conversations.

This new measure shows that forwarding messages on WhatsApp is not bad, but it must be done responsibly and in some countries these messages can pose serious problems among the population. Obviously, this restriction can be easily bypassed (we will not say it either) but at least they try to fight against this forwarding of massive messages. There is no specific date of its implementation in the application, but surely the new measure will be added in one of the many updates they carry out.

Limiting the number of forwards IS censorship.
It is as if they tell you that you can only talk to three people a day, lest you tell lies. It's ridiculous.
