This is how Apple announces group FaceTime calls

One of the main novelties that Apple presented at WWDC 2018 and that was related to iOS 12, were the group calls via FaceTime, group calls that allow you to join up to 32 parties in the same call. Shortly after it was leaked that this option would unfortunately not be available with the release of the final version of iOS 12.

Fortunately, we had little to wait to be able to enjoy this function, since with the launch of iOS 12.1The first major update to iOS 12, group calling via FaceTime has started to become available. To promote this new feature, Apple just launched a new ad using Elvis Presley impersonators.

To the rhythm of the song "There's Always Me" the ad shows us a series of dand Elvis Presley impersonators, located in different parts of the world, and who are singing the same song as a group through a video call on FaceTime.

Apple has titled this announcement "Group FaceTime on iPhone - A Little Company" and in the description of the video informs us of its availability from iOS 12.1 and that allows you to gather up to 32 people in the same video call. What the ad text does not show us are the use limitations of these calls.

To be able to make use of group video calls through FaceTime, our device must be managed by at least 2 GB of RAM memory, therefore iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s cannot make use of group calls.

Group calling through FaceTime works on all models of iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4, iPad 2017 onwards, The iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Air and iPad Touch are left out of this list.  This first limitation is likely to be the beginning of the end for updates to both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, devices that have less than 2GB of RAM.
