This is not entirely confirmed since we do not have the box to check it, but it seems that finally it will support the load from any base and not only with Apple's AirPower.
The Chinese publication Chongdiantou , cites some unidentified sources within the Apple supply chain, in which it is ensured that the AirPods box will support the universal Qi load, so for now it seems that this new device it will not require an official Apple database.
The case of the Apple Watch put us on alert since not all the bases are compatible with the wireless charging of the watches, so many seeing that the MFi certification was necessary began to say that without a certified base it could not be charged the new AirPods box. This, as we say, is something that must be officially confirmed, so it will be time to wait and see when the box is launched and check that any Qi base is capable of charging it.
If we pay attention to Bloomberg predictions, this new cargo box should be launched during the month of September that comes, possibly on Wednesday 12, and it will be just at that moment when we will leave doubts. What seems clear is that the month of September is going to arrive loaded with news in every way and it would be great (for asking that it is not left) to launch the AirPods in black.

The Qi charging system used by Apple is the universal system used by all other brands, both the AirPods box, the iPhone and the Apple Watch from the Series 3.
They can be loaded with ANY Qi charging BASE, said and CONFIRMED by Apple itself in Keynote in September last year.
Apple Watch prior to Series 3 use a wireless charging system created by Apple, it is not the Qi system that they bring now, so they cannot be used. But Apple ultimately decided to use the Qi System that everyone uses.
