On the first page of Apple's website in Italy, the Cupertino company explains the "dubious" performance of the devices iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus after iOS 10 update. As we all know, last year the company of the bitten apple lost a trial in which he had to pay a fine of 10 million euros for failing to alert users to potential performance issues on these devices after upgrading.

Well now Apple issues this official statement on its website in which it has not just clearly confirmed that it is a case of scheduled obsolescence as some media warn, but it explains the performance issue. In short, it is an important act for users that is motivated by the complaint last year mentioned above.

Apple lost a lawsuit in late 2018 when a court ruled that the company had failed to properly disclose changes in the performance of these devices after releasing the iOS 10.2.1 update. These were those famous performance limitation algorithms and the problem was that it was not announced in the release notes with the consequent problem of the batteries that later resulted in virtually free battery changes (29 euros with mounting included) for all iPhones until the end of this past year.

This is the official statement from Apple literally translated:

Apple, Apple Distribution International, Apple Italy and Apple Retail Italy have led consumers in possession of iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus to the installation of the iOS 10 operating system and subsequent updates without providing adequate information on the impact of that choice in the performance of the phones and without offering (in a timely manner) any method to restore the original functionality of the devices in the event of a proven decrease in performance after the upgrade (such as battery degradation or replacement at prices reasonable).

This practice was assessed as incorrect, in accordance with Articles 20, 21, 22 and 24 of Legislative Decree No. 206 of the Italian Consumer Code by the Italian Competition Authority. The Authority has ordered the publication of this amending statement in accordance with Article 27, paragraph 8, of the Consumer Code.

After all the trouble Apple made changes to iOS 11 to improve battery management in addition to adding options such as the ability to view battery health and the like.
