A few hours ago, Apple announced the economic results for the last quarter of 2018, the company's first fiscal quarter of 2019. During the conference, Apple offered explanations to the data that the company had presented, the reduction in the number of iPhone sales being the most outstanding of all.
During this conference, Tim Cook delved into the reasons why the company had put less iPhones on the market than usual, being the only section of the company that has reduced the number of sales, since both the iPad and the Mac have maintained their sales ratio during the last quarter of 2018.
The first reason, as Tim Cook explained, is due to the different exchange rates. The strength of the US dollar has made the iPhone much more expensive in many parts of the world, which is why Apple has decided to lower prices in some of these countries. In Turkey, without going any further, buying an iPhone has become much more expensive, which has caused a drop in Apple's income in this country of about 700 million dollars compared to the previous year.
Another aspect that has affected the lower number of iPhone sales during 2018, we find it in operator subsidies, subsidies that are becoming less common. In Japan, one of the most important countries for Apple in terms of mobile devices, carriers used to offer interesting subsidies to customers, but local regulations have eliminated most of them.
The third reason is found in the battery replacement program that the Cupertino-based company launched in 2018 and that allowed many users replace the battery in its terminals for 29 dollars, giving them one or two more years of life for very little money without having to renew the device.
To try to encourage the renovations of its terminals, Apple launched a few weeks ago a preplacement program offering interesting discounts users with an iPhone 6 and up, also offering in some countries, the possibility of financing the payment of the terminal month by month.
Is there a way to know which countries apply for payment month by month?
