Actualidad iPhone Answer: Jailbreak (1)

En Actualidad iPhone We care about our readers, so you can ask us your questions about your iPhone: Cydia, Jailbreak, Connection, Operators, Prices... everything you can think of. We will try to answer as many questions as we can, obviously with our judgment and knowledge.

I encourage you all to write your questions to ngarcia_p@ymail.com.

After the jump you have some answers:

Interrogatory

1- because in some tutorials they say that to carry out the jailbreak you have to keep the baseband, what is the baseband and what is the risk of not keeping the baseband?

2- I backed up my ECID with tinyumbrella, but is there something I don't understand about leaving this program on so that it doesn't throw the 1015 error or something like that?

3- With all these doubts, I don't know how to perform the jailbrek without ruining my iPhone 3GS, because before with the spirit it was super fast and easy?

Answer

1. The baseband is the firmware of the modem, that is, the "ios of the antenna" itself. If you need liberation, you have to keep it in order to continue liberating, if you don't need liberation, forget it.

2. Once your iPhone is restored, Apple check the baseband, if it is not correct it gives an error, TinyUmbrella eliminates this error, again if you do not need unlocking forget it. If you want to downgrade you will need tinyumbrella and your SHSH (not ECID).

3. Each jailbreak is different, specifically Spirit was easy, but it has been the one that gave the most problems, if you used Spirit I recommend setting it up as a new iPhone once your iPhone is restored, or you can put it in a loop where it never turns on.

Once updated to iOS 4.3.1 use this tutorial.

I have an old iPhone 2g (baseband 04.05.04 g) with fw 3.1.3 and when restoring with rednow 0.94 I ran out of wifi. I have tried several times but still no wifi. Could you give me some suggestion about it please. Thanks a lot

Answer

It is possible that your Wifi antenna has broken, there are stores where they can change it, just in case it is a software problem what I would do is restore with the Whited00r firmwares.

Interrogatory

Hello good!!! First of all, thank you very much for this service, that the truth is luxurious that we know thoroughly. My question is related to the baseband 6.15 of the iPad.

I have an iPhone 3gs 32gb with Jailbreak, iPad baseband with ultrasnow. Can you through the SHSH or somehow remove that jailbreak? I mean, officially update it again? Is that with this baseband I am a little lost! Again, thank you very much for everything!

Answer

No, if you have baseband 6.15.00 it will give you an error when restoring, the only way to restore an iPhone with an iPad baseband is to use a custom firmware with the jailbreak included, also, you need the jailbreak to release with Ultrasn0w.

Interrogatory

Hello very good :), thanks in advance for your help:

if I have the shsh of the iphone 4 with the firm 4.1 can I go down from 4.3.1 to 4.1 and then go up to 4.2.1 and do jail unthetered? A crack greeting

Answer

Yes and no, if you have the SHSH saved you can go to the version from which you have saved them, if you have the SHSH of iOS 4.2.1 you can go to 4.2.1, but if you do not have them, it is useless to go to 4.1 because then it won't let you enter 4.2.1 (because you don't have the SHSH). You have all the information you need about SHSH here.

Interrogatory

Hello good, my name is Jose Vicente or I have an iPhone 3GS that I bought second-hand from the T&T company, I currently have it with os 4.1, jailbreak and firmware 6.15.00, since I needed to release it, so now… I am without GPS.

My question is if there is any solution to have GPS again, either by installing another os or restoring the iphone, it is that I got a bit confused.

Question 1: The firmware of the modem changes every time a new os is installed or is it independent of the os ???

Question 2: If I restore the phone, it will install the current version 4.3.1 without option, for now, to jailbreak but… will it also change the firmware ???

Question 3: In reference to the previous question, buy a turboSIM in dealextreme that is installed next to the operator's SIM and "tricks" the phone by saying that the card inserted is from the company that asks, the problem is that I provided it once and to remove it I had to almost break the SIM support because it was going too tight, so I prefer the normal release system.

Answer

There is no solution, it is the bad thing of having put the baseband 6.15, that there is no way to remove it or fix the GPS.

1. Yes, the firmware of the modem usually changes with each iOS, although you can keep it using jailbreak tools.

2. If you have baseband 6.15 you can only restore with custom firmwares, no official versions, forget it. Uses sn0wbreeze o Pwnagetool to create a custom firmware and install it with iTunes.

Hi I have an iphone 4 with 4.2.1 and bb 3.10.01 without the original sim. What do you recommend to jailbreak it but have push notifications? Since with snowbreeze it takes them away.

I take advantage of the fact that the issue has been raised in the question about the iPhone 2G: I also have a 2G that had never had Wi-Fi problems until updating to 3.1.2 / 3.1.3. Since I updated it, I started with the topic that is discussed in many forums (but to which nobody seems to give a solution): the Wi-Fi works as soon as the installation process is finished, and then it stops working from the moment the device enters sleep mode. The problem is not at the hardware level, but at the software level (I say this so that our friend will not fix it). If someone has had the problem and tried Whited00r, could you comment if the custom firmware can fix it? (or any other procedure with which they have solved the problem, of course). Thanks in advance and continue in the same vein: this page is one of the best on the net! 😉

When trying to go from 4.1 to 4.3.1 with Sn0wbreeze, I get ERROR 1015, I have tried to get out of the error with TynyUmbrella, but the iPhone 3GS always returns to the screen of the "damn" cable.

What do you suggest I do ...

but with which version of tinyumbrella did you save the shsh and which version of the snowbreze did you use ...

I'm telling you this because I know that no one is going to look at it in my post but in actualidad iphone or current iPad if it is known.

hi, i have an iphone 3g with firmware 4.2.1 and ipad baseband. I have done it with redsnow, and the problem I have is that the gps does not work and sometimes it cannot find the sim card. The card "solved" by restarting the mobile but the gps there is no way.

How can I solve these faults? Thanks in advance.
    Greetings, and congratulations.

What is really with this information that someone can answer me please because I am one of those affected with the GPS problem look: http://www.limera1n.cc/2011/04/iphone-3gs-51402-51504-51600-unlock.html

    @applecard
I bought the "GEVEY SIMCARD" for iPhone 4 on eBay, I was in the same situation, but since I bought this SIM I have forgotten all my problems, and not only I but I have 5 more friends who have bought it and we all works great.
    This SIM works for ALL iOS 4.0, 4.1 4.2.1 and 4.3.1 and ALL BaseBand 1.59, 2.10, 3.10 and 04.10.

    @Fali Freire
You have to be very sure of what you are doing before installing the iPad BaseBand to the iPhone 3Gs, because when you do this you lose the GPS FOREVER, THERE IS NO WAY TO RECOVER IT, but it is better to have an iPhone without GPS than to have a iPhone as iPod Touch for life.

Please see if someone answers this to me, which is I think one of the few things I don't know about the jailbreak world:

Sometimes when you install an application from cydia, a few more are installed for its correct operation, but when you delete the main app those several that have been installed are not deleted, and they do not appear in the installed packages of cydia! How can they be deleted? All those things?!

  12.   AnW1d0x said

@Radsiete many speak but have no idea what they write. @MuscleNerd is working on downgrading the 3G baseband [s] publicly.
    Confirmation link -> http://www.limera1n.cc/2011/04/iphone-3gs-51402-51504-51600-unlock.html

With the issue of losing the GPS it is totally by chance that muclenerd also said it.

I have had an iPhone with Jailbreak for a long time and waiting is essential in this matter and much more with the basebands. I personally trust that the iPhone Dev-Team will surprise us with something.

  13.   rads seven said

@ AnW1d0x, you are the one who has no idea what you write, I base myself on concrete facts, you on false hopes.
I have not said ANYTHING that is not true, the sun cannot be covered with a finger, the iPhone Dev-Team has been saying for more than 5 months that it will release the iPhone 4 and when the time comes when they say they are going to take it out they invent a new excuse. just as MuscleNerd said what he said in that post about the iPhone 3Gs, he also said that there would be a release for the iPhone 4 and they did not comply.
Better say once and for all, that they will not release more Ultrasn0w, that they will only be dedicated to the Jailbreak, and that we buy an iPhone with the legal operator or that we buy iPhone Factory Unlocked, instead of being deceived with false hopes.

I WANT YOU TO RESOLVE A QUESTION FOR ME ... XD

REDSNOW OR PGNETOOL? WHICH IS BETTER? WHAT THINGS HAS ONE BETTER AND OTHERS WORSE… BECAUSE I DON'T ALWAYS THINK THAT CUSTOM FIRMWARE IS THE BEST THERE IS…

Hello good. I have read something about some 2g problems with the wifi and I have decided to dare to ask:
    - I have an 3gb 8g, jailbreak, ultrasnow, in 3.1.2 (7D11) and with modem firmware 04.26.08.
My problem is the following, I detect Wi-Fi networks but only when I am very close to them (at home for example when I am in the same room as the break)

Is it a hardware problem? (I have seen that there is a store in Malaga that changes the wifi antenna for 69 euros)
Is it a software problem? (I have still updated something in cydia that has updated something and that is why it does not work for me)

  16.   RaulCS25 said

@loirione, the first thing you should do, from experience, is update the iPhone to the latest Firmware version. In my case, with my previous iPhone, a 3G, more or less the same thing happened to me, after conducting several tests, asking in forums and others, the best option was to backup and restore the iPhone. Now I have the iPhone 3G with the baseband of the iPad and free by ultrasn0w, come on, no WiFi problems.
    regards

  19.   Iphone 4 with jailbreak and problems with facetime said

Hello, thank you very much for the service, I tell you that last November my iphone 4 was turned into a nice ipod: yes since I could not release it !!!, well after 6 months and thanks to the sim gevey I enjoy my iphone again 4 with firmware 4.2.1 released !!!. My question is the following, how do I solve the problem of not being able to activate facetime?

    That in advance thank you!

  20.   rads seven said

@Iphone 4 jailbroken and facetime issues:

I was in the same situation, what I did was:
    1. Format iPhone (4.2.1)
    2. Call my operator to activate international calls.
    3. Go to Settings / Phone / My number / and put my number in international format, that is: + (xxx) xxxx-xxxx.
    4. Activate the FaceTime tab.
    5. Install the MiTime program (cydia.pushfix.info) from Cydia
    6. Check that MiTime says that my iPhone is compatible, (NO need to buy the code).
    7. Wait a few hours and you will see that in Settings it will appear as activated, and the icon already appears in calls.

    Hello,

Thank you for this mega consultancy that I think all of us who have very little idea on the subject and are afraid of breaking something are going to be a vice 🙂

    Here is my query:

At home we have 2 iphone 3G. The two are released by the operator (movistar).
One has firmware 3.1.3 and is 'jailbreked' with spirit. It goes perfect. The only downside is that it is really slow (now I think it's slower than PPIO). and the other does not have the jaibreak and if I am not wrong, it has firmware 4.2.

My idea is to update both to 4.2 or 4.3 (which I think is the last for 3g) and jailbreak them. Among other things, because there is an application that interests me that is for firm greater than or equal to 4.0.

But it stresses me to read that if you have to have baseband 6.15.00 (which I'm sorry but I have no idea how to put it on or remove it) that if you can lose the gps or the wifi. And then there are the modified 3.1.3 custom ones, which for my case would not work for me since it would not load the application that firm 4.0 or higher expects.

Is there a way to jailbreak avoiding these problems? (And if I restore with the official, leave it as new: p)

Note, I tried it with a version of Greenpois0n that said it was going for 3g, but I had no noses that it went into recovery mode (I tried that with the iphone 3g with firm 4.2)

I have an Iphone 3g slower than the bad horse. Is there a way that it becomes more fluid thanks to the jailbreak? . I do not have or saved any firmware, since I was updating and more or less I was doing well, but it is already unbearable. If it is not possible, is there any other solution?
    Thank you

Hello, I have the iphone 4 with bb 04.10.01. I use Windows. What method to do the JB do you recommend taking into account that it is released in an original way (calling timofonica) and it does not matter if the baseband is uploaded (I think)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hola!
    I have a problem ...
I bought an iPhone from a person and had to do a lot of program updates etc.
But of course I couldn't because the boy's ID appeared to me, so a friend told me that what I had to do was format it.
The fact is that I have done it, or I am in it rather, the mobile continues to charge since I gave it to delete everything so that it is like a new iPhone and I was reading and I have no idea what that baseband etc. is. .
What do I have to do when it turns on?
And if I want to jaylbreak him?
I hope you can help me & thank you!
